First full time job interview

So today I was going for an interview in Delaware for a technology analyst program. It just so happened that Luis was there too. What are the odds!!

I found out last week about the interview. So all weekend/week I've been nervous about it. Last night I was slowly freaking out and getting more nervous byy the hour. Right before I went to bed I went to print out my resume and realized I didn't have anymore resume paper. I printed it on regular paper. I guess they're gonna have to deal with it. I had a hard time falling asleep and had to wake up at 5. :(

Luis and I were ate the airport at 6. I had a cereal bar for breakfast. My anxiety was killing my appetite.
600: Going through security, I grabbed two bins for myself(laptop and jackets and boots). When I set the bins down...older lady in front of me grabs one and says, "Oh thank you for grabbing me one.". Whoa whoa whoa lady...they're both for me. But I wanted to be nice and I realized I've seen her as a faculty member around school, so I let her have one and grabbed another for myself.
My stuff finally comes through. I'm trying to put my stuff away and not block other people so I went around the corner to fix my stuff. But at the same time TSA was about to check Luis' bag. I wasn't running away to distance myself from him!

630: At the gate we find out that our flight has been delayed an hour due to fog. Ok that's cool, we can still catch our connecting flight.

700: the fog still hasn't lifted in Charlotte. So we're delayed another half hour. You would think that the sun would burn off the fog there. But I didn't know what was going on with that place.

800: Our flight is delayed again. We rebook our Charlotte to Philly flight. We emailed our contact person. She was wicked understanding and nice. She said that she would reschedule our car. So I guess we were getting a driver :)

900: Ok this is rediculous. Our flight keeps getting delayed by 20 mins.

1000: So by this time, we're both hungry again. And our flight was delayed another 15 mins. But its ok we'll just wait til we get to Charlotte casue they'll have more food and it'll be better than TLH's "food court."
1100: After 3 rebooks we might be taking off. But would still be late for the interview. Our contact finally told us to just go home. :(

1130: Pay $10 for long term parking. Go home tired and disappointed.

I checked the flight sometime later and saw that it didn't take off until 1230!

So Luis went to sulk at Miller's. Nothing like a pint of Fosters to drown your sorrows.

Tomorrow we'll see where we go from here as far as the interview process. I'e never had an airport experience like that. Especially since I fly to and from Boston all the time, even when its snowing.

All I have to say is that this is the second time I've flown US Airways. And it's my second bad experience with them. :(

Job Search

It's that time again....job search time. :| But this time, it's for real. Before, I would just be looking for an internship or just getting some practice on interviews and such. I do find looking for a job to be depressing. You get all excited that a company has called you back, and then they slam the door in your face. :(

This time of year usually starts off with Seminole Futures. Somehow I landed an interview before Seminole Futures. First let me talk about my feelings on Seminole Futures. It's a great place to collect pens, pads of paper, and sometimes real fun goodies. Other than that, I haven't seen much greatness come out of it. You whore yourself around, passing out your résumé left and right, and listening to a recording at each table you stop at. I have the attention span of an 8 year old at these career fairs. The recruiters (who usually are not technical) start talking about how great their company is and then I ask them a question or two (just to make it seem like I'm really interested in their company). At this point, I usually start tuning out and wondering what I'm going to have for lunch.

After the career fair comes the interviews--the on-campus interviews. The b.s. interviews where you answer the typical behavioral questions. If I don't get too nervous and blab about something extremely off-topic, I might get a chance at a second interview. That has yet to happen for me. But I know plenty of my friends that have gotten the second interview, been flown out to an office, put up in a nice hotel, interview, and fly back to find out they didn't get a job.

All my opportunities have come out of me going out on my own to pursue leads, sans any connection to the FSU Career Center.

I have my first real interview this week. The company is flying me out to the office where the position is located. I hope I do well on this interview.
